These are taken in 2003 I got around mostly wth trams, funiculars and by wolking...Carris is the operator for trams buses and funiculars and there is a transportation museum in tram depot below the 25 May Bridge. For these nearly 100 year old funiculars; they call "Elevadores".

great set of photos!
Thank you for the comment

Ortaköy Mosque/Istanbul

Ortaköy Mosque
The Mosque and the Bridge
Ortaköy from the Bridge
On the Bosphorus line there is a place named Ortaköy and a baroque style mosque named Ortaköy mosque. Built in 1853 heres 3 pix of Burc Acar ... Ortaköy is a place highly recommended for visitors of Istanbul : theres many small cafes bars and night attractions around the mosque.

#1 what an outstanding picture! Tue 20-Apr-2004 15:00

Wonderful photos of one of my most favorite places in Istanbul. Thank you! The one taken from the bridge is breathtaking... I've only crossed the bridge when it was dark, and in winter, so this view is quite a revelation to me... I miss Istanbul so much... The Ortakoy Mosque is very beautiful, partly because it looks as if it's been washed by the sea for centuries, standing so very close to it... Its walls seem to be covered with patina...
